The photograph (above on the left) was taken in August 2002 at Henley on Thames, and shows Eileen and Karl on their family holiday that year.Above right shows Swiss Valley near Llanelli in Wales Easter 2001. A photograph taken in August 2004 shows the Swiss Valley reservoir near Llanelli 2/3 empty.
Eileen and Karl were born in Ammanford and Llanelli respectively, married in 1982 and moved to Canterbury, Kent in 1983. Karl works as a Lecturer in Computing and I.T., whilst Eileen works as a Classroom Assistant (HTLA). Kelly, now 25 years old, completed her music degree at Canterbury Christ Church University College, Canterbury in July 2006. She then 'took a year out' and travelled around the world. In 2009 she completed her PGCE at South Bank University, and currently teaches at Southwold Primary School in Hackney, London.Carrin now 23, lives in Sturry with her partner Aran, and worked for the Rising Sun Domestic Violence Project as a children's worker until December 2009. She has just started a new job in Folkestone.
Eileen and Karl have enjoyed Lawn Green Bowling, but are at present taking some "time out" from the hobby. We have in the past also bowled indoors, but have given this up also due to pressures of work etc..
We also enjoy camping most years, using a trailer tent. We visited the Lake District for the summer holidays in 2000, Wiltshire, Wales and Henley on Thames were our 2001 holiday venues. Followed in August 2002 by two weeks at the Shoreline, Burry Port and a week at Henley on Thames.
In August 2003 Blacklands Wiltshire was the camping venue, and St David's in Wales. In May 2004 Eileen and Karl visited Milton Keynes and Bletchley park, with the August 2004 holiday spent again in Wales. In October 2004 a weeks B&B in Jersey using the fairly new EUJet's out of Manston was a very enjoyable break.
Other summer holidays we have enjoyed include St David's in 2005, Somerset and Wales 2006, Guernsey 2007, Guernsey 2008 and the Isle of Wight in 2009.
Karl, Eileen and Carrin also enjoy Astronomy, and took some photo's of the August 11th 1999 solar eclipse. These photographs were taken at Brixham during the families summer holiday in Devon. You can view some of these photo's on the Astronomy page.
Both Kelly and Carrin enjoy music and play the flute and trumpet respectively. Carrin was a member of the Whitstable Brass Band, but left to concentrate on her academic studies. We also enjoy reading and watching video's.
The photograph (above on the left) was taken in 1994 when attending an Open University Degree ceremony in Brighton ( the family are shown from left to right, Kelly, Karl, Carrin and Eileen).
The photograph in the middle was taken on the summit of Snowdon (North Wales) when on holidays in 1997.
The photograph on the right was taken at Kelly's PGCE Presentation day in 2009.
